Do You Brush your Pet’s Teeth? Find The Best Dog Clinic In Delhi for Dental Cleaning

dog clinic in Delhi
We humans brush our teeth every day to maintain good oral hygiene and eliminate the settling of plaque on the teeth. But How many of us think of our Pet’s Daily ORAL Hygiene? Pet Care Hospital, in Dwarka, is a great veterinary care center (dog clinic) for pets Dental Scaling and Cleaning.

Pet Guardians (Purdians) simply use dental hygiene treats, like Denta Stix or HEXtra Premium Oral Hygiene Chews, as a way to keep their dog or cat’s mouth clean and smelling fresh.

Our pets need to get a thorough dental check up at a pet clinic at least once a year. There are many pet clinics in Delhi that offer these services, and due to the new-found awareness about animal health, more than 60% of Purdians (Pet Guardians) now take their pets for Dental Check ups once every 6 to 8 months.

Failing to do so can cause bad breath, tooth loss, pain in the gums, problems eating, and bacteria that causes periodontal disease.

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), “Periodontal disease is the most common dental condition in dogs and cats – by the time your pet is 3 years old, he or she will very likely have some early evidence of periodontal disease, which will worsen as your pet grows older if effective preventive measures aren’t taken.”

The real problem starts taking place when the plaque and calculus spread under the gum line and start releasing toxins, damaging the tooth’s supporting tissues. There is also a correlation between oral diseases and systemic diseases, so vital organs such as heart, liver, and kidneys can also get affected.

A great SOLUTION to maintain good oral hygiene and remove yellow tarter (tartar?) from your pets’ teeth is Dental Scaling and Cleaning.

If you are a Purdian (Pet Guardian) who is skeptical of such a procedure, then an important fact to know is that unfortunately, periodontal disease occurs five times as often in pets than in humans.

When to get your Pet’s Dental check-up Appointment?
pet's healthy teeth check-upIf you notice any of these symptoms, it’s time for a visit to the vet:

  • Red or bleeding gums
  • Whining when they yawn or eat
  • Loose teeth
  • Bad breath
  • Lumps or bumps inside the mouth

Veterinary Procedure for dental cleaning (can vary with each vet)
On visiting a vet, your pet might get a thorough examination of their teeth and mouth to check for pain spots, bleeding or infections. A dental x-ray will help determine whether there are bacteria lurking under the gum line.
The oral exam is a good way for the vet to estimate what kind of dental cleaning and procedures the pet requires, and will also allow you to understand your pet’s oral needs better. Don’t be afraid to ask questions regarding how to maintain good oral health after the scaling as well.

Once the examination is complete, generally there are two ways to go about your dog or cat’s dental scaling. One procedure requires the pet to be put under anesthesia, while in the other, the pet is awake and just restrained in a way that the vet has access to the mouth.

Veterinary Dental Cleaning with anesthesia

A lot of pet guardians are wary of this option as putting your dog or cat under anesthesia is a scary prospect. This is why it is necessary for the vet to perform a blood test to check if the pet is healthy enough to undergo the anesthesia and to identify any conceivable problems. Under proper protocols using anesthesia is a very safe option and Purdians should find out about their vet’s protocols beforehand.

During the procedure, the vet has complete access to the pet’s mouth without the worry of the animal getting aggressive or biting the vet. This allows them to properly clean the teeth and remove the plaque and yellow build up. Scaling of the tooth’s crown and then polishing can leave a clean and smooth surface. It also lets the vet clean beneath the gum line where the bacteria exists, and prevent periodontal disease, bad breath and damage to the tooth.

An advantage of your pet being under anesthesia is that the procedure can be completed without causing your pet any pain or discomfort. Think of when you have to sit still in the dental chair while your dentist is scraping at your tooth. Doesn’t it hurt and feel uncomfortable? Now think of your pet having to sit still and go through the same. It’s a difficult expectation.

Veterinary Dental Cleaning without anesthesia

Non-anesthesia dental scaling (NAD or NADS) is done without putting the dog or cat under anesthesia and requires them to be restrained appropriately. Even though some pets are naturally calm and friendly, being tied for a long period of time for no reason can turn them aggressive at that moment.

Ensure to keep a calm environment for your pet and keep them comfortable through the procedure. While the pet’s teeth can be effectively cleaned in this procedure, it is difficult to get to the bacteria under the gum line without them being anesthetized. So the teeth can be cleaned from the outside and remove the yellow matter but vets wouldn’t be able to get a deeper cleaning done.

It is a good idea to determine which of the two forms of treatment will suit your pet. Doing an oral examination and x-rays can help eliminate the existence of bacteria under the gum line and a non-anesthesia procedure can take place.
