Anatolian Shepherd Dog

The Anatolian Shepherd Dog is well known for being a great guardian dog or a livestock protector.

It was developed to live the flock and adopt it as it's own. This is a very rugged and a self-confident dog breed who knows how much protection is necessary for any situation.

As it grows, it only takes on the protectors gig. It doesn't matter to the Anatolian whether his "flock" is human or animal — he is extremely protective and possessive.

The Anatolian is a large dog, weighing around 150 pounds. It has a short, fawn coat and a black mask. It appears intimidating when required— though he's calm and friendly with his family.

Verdict: Anatolian is a very intelligent, loyal, steady working dog breed. It's highly trainable, though it's likely to consider whether or not it will choose to obey a command, due to his independent nature. It needs an owner who is strong, kind, and consistent as a pack leader.
