You are risking your dog's health by making diet mistakes. Here are 5 Common Feeding Mistakes That Can Harm Your Dog:

No treats at all!?

Yes, consuming more sweets than what's required does give your dog extra calories and fats but stopping treats all together can get even more complicated.

If you are giving food rewards for performing good deeds then stopping treats can curtail your pets daily treat intake which will leave him/her very upset, frustrated.

Instead, you must consider replacing the treats with healthy foods like frozen broccoli, baby carrots, and rawhides. Rawhides have a good amount of calories, therefore if you are feeding them rawhides then you must stop treats altogether.

Not asking your vet

You might think that just cutting out on your dog's diet will get it to lose weight and get back in shape. But there are soo many important points that you must keep in your mind before getting your pet on a weight loss journey which can only be pointed out by a vet.

But not asking your vet before the diet will only cause frustration which will result in a  failure before the diet even gets started.

Exercising all day long

Osteoarthritis is common in older dogs and a decrease in any sort of activitiy because of the joint pain can lead to weight gain. Forcing your dog to workout long hours can predispose them to injuries that will sideline them for many days or weeks which will inturn cause more weight gain.

Take your pet out for 20-30 minutes brisk walking, 2-3 times a day. You will see the weight droppping in a week or two. Continue wth frisk walking and playing games with your dog. Keep them engaged!

Letting them melt you

Have you ever been on a diet? Isn't it very difficult? It takes a lot of willpower to stick to a healthy diet. But it gets even more difficult when you’re asked to limit what your dog or cat gets every day.

No matter how hard it gets, you have to be firm with your pets. Do not let those big brown beautiful eyes melt your heart in giving them more treats than required. Pets quickly learn how easy it is to play us and get what they want.

Interchanging pet diet

Some pet owners believe that food made for one animal can be given to another i.e feeding dog cat food. All dogs, cats and exotic pets have different nutritional needs and hence their food is different.

Interchanging pet diet will only result in a nutritional imbalance. Please avoid interchanging pet diet.
